October 30, 2025
The revamped Steel Market Update website goes live on Monday, Nov. 3. You will see a cleaner layout with simpler navigation, providing faster access to the news and data you need. This will not impact your membership. The SMU you know and trust is still here, just easier to use. If you need any assistance, our team is available at smu@crugroup.com.
What’s new?
The site has a simplified menu with clearer sections for News, Data, and the SMU Community. A refreshed news page has improved article sorting to help you find what you need faster. There are no changes to your login credentials, and your bookmarks and subscriptions will continue to function as usual.
Here is a sample of the new look:

Where to find popular content:
- Data > Prices: SMU Steel and Scrap Prices, Interactive Pricing Tool, Futures Data, Price Estimator Tool
- Data > Proprietary Data: Service Center Inventories, Lead Times, Sentiment, Negotiations, Key Market Indicators
- Data > Market Reports: Steel and Scrap Survey Results, Market Reports by Product and Sector
- Data > Mill Data: Price Increase Calendar, Furnace Status, Coating Extras, New Capacity
- Community: SMU Events, Workshops, Community Chats
Here is a preview of our new menu structure:
