USW taps Brown as next international president
Written by Ethan Bernard
The United Steelworkers (USW) union has named Roxanne Brown as its next international president.
Brown, who currently serves USW international VP at large, will replace David McCall effective March 1, 2026.
McCall, who has held that role since September 2023, did not seek reelection.
“I can think of no one better qualified to lead our union as we navigate this unprecedented era of largely unchecked corporate greed,” McCall said in a statement on Oct. 24.
Brown will be the USW’s 10th international president, along with the first woman to head the union.
“I’m committed to the work ahead and pledge to live up to the trust our members have shown in me,” Brown said.
Other changes
Amber Miller is set to take over Brown’s position as international VP at large. For the past six years she has directed the USW’s grassroots, nonpartisan Rapid Response network.
Several other members were also re-elected to new four-year terms. They were Myles Sullivan (secretary-treasurer); Emil Ramirez (VP of administration); Kevin Mapp (VP of human affairs); Marty Warren (national director for Canada); Luis Mendoza (vice president); and directors for each of the union’s 12 districts.
