Steel Dynamics promotes Bell to lead OmniSource recycling ops

Steel Dynamics Inc. announced Matt Bell as the new head of the company’s metals recycling platform, OmniSource.
Bell’s appointment as SDI vice president of metals recycling and president of OmniSource is effective immediately, the company announced on Tuesday. He takes over the position from Miguel Alvarez, who is transitioning to lead SDI’s aluminum flat-rolled products platform.
“I am excited and pleased to recognize Matt for his outstanding leadership and positive impact within our company,” commented Chairman and CEO Mark D. Millett. “Since joining us in 2016, Matt’s commercial and operational experience has helped lead our metals recycling teams to higher levels of service, efficiency, supply-chain solutions, and excellence.”
Bell has held various leadership roles within OmniSource’s operations, commercial, and marketing departments. Since 2023, he has served as VP of commercial.
