Tenaris unit buys SA Recycling yard in Pennsylvania
Written by Ethan Bernard
A Tenaris subsidiary, Steel Recycling Services, has acquired the Beaver Falls, Pa., scrap processing yard of SA Recycling.
The yard spans 39 acres and is situated adjacent to Tenaris’ steelmaking facility in Koppel, Pa., ~40 miles northwest of Pittsburgh.
The buy will help the Luxembourg-based global pipe maker integrate its steel production with scrap processing.
As a result, it will be “streamlining and optimizing its production process in the US, and strengthening its domestic manufacturing capabilities,” the company said in a statement last week.
SA Recycling, based in Orange, Calif., will continue to manage the yard during a transition period, which is expected to last until early 2026.
Further terms of the deal were not revealed.
The Koppel steelmaking shop has an annual capacity of ~430,000 short tons of steel bars, which are then made into seamless pipe at other Tenaris facilities.
