    October US mill shipments slip but still higher than 2024

    Domestic steel mill shipments dropped in October vs. September but increased year over year.

    US steel shipments in October totaled 7,692,319 short tons (st), according to the latest data from the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI). That’s down 4.2% from 8,032,536 st the prior month but up 9.2% from 7,047,172 st a year earlier.

    Shipments year to date (YTD) through October stood at 76,425,069 st, up 5.1% from 72,731,187 st in the first 10 months of 2024.

    Comparing YTD shipments through October 2025 to the first 10 months of 2024 shows: corrosion-resistant sheet and strip, up 4%, hot-rolled sheet and strip, unchanged; and cold-rolled sheet and strip, off 3%.
