Nucor Plate Group adds $40/ton to plate prices

Nucor Plate Group notified customers it was aiming to increase all plate product prices by $40 per short ton (st).

In its Dec. 22 notice, the Charlotte, N.C.-based steelmaker said it plans to apply the increase to new orders that aren’t confirmed by the close of the day’s business.

The price increase coincides with Nucor opening its plate orderbook for February.

“We reserve the right to re-quote any order not confirmed by an order acknowledgement,” the letter stated.

The latest price hike comes after Nucor – one of the leading plate producers in the US – announced a price increase of $30/st on Nov. 24.
