    SMA elects SDI's Schneider to chair of Executive Committee

    The Steel Manufacturers Association (SMA) has elected Steel Dynamics Inc.’s (SDI’s) Barry Schneider as chair of its 2026-28 Executive Committee.

    The steel trade group also named seven other officers.

    “I am proud to follow in the footsteps of SDI leaders like Keith Busse, Mark Millett and Dick Teets as chairman of the Steel Manufacturers Association,” SDI President and COO Schneider said in a statement on Monday. “The mission of the SMA is more important than ever.”

    First Vice Chair: Ben Pickett, EVP, business services, Nucor

    Treasurer: Ed Goettl, VP, market development, Optimus Steel

    Immediate Past Chair: Ty Garrison, SVP, CMC

    Vice Chair at Large: Lenore Trammell, chief administrative officer, chief compliance officer and general counsel, Big River Steel

    Vice Chair at Large: Michael Williams, president and CEO, Metallus

    Vice Chair at Large: Rob Simon, CEO, JSW Steel USA

    Vice Chair at Large: Conrad Winkler, president, North Star BlueScope

    “SDI’s Barry Schneider and his fellow members on the 2026-28 SMA Executive Committee are exemplary steel industry executives who will lead the Steel Manufacturers Association to new heights,” SMA President and CEO Philip K. Bell said.
