Nucor Corp. has made an internal promotion and named the new top financial officer of the Charlotte, N.C.-based steel company.

The company named John L. “Jack” Sullivan as its new chief financial officer, treasurer, and executive VP.

Sullivan previously served as VP, treasurer, and general manager of investor relations. Prior to joining Nucor in 2022, he spent 13 years with Duke Energy and nine years in corporate and investment banking at Bank of America.

The appointment is effective March 1.

Sullivan succeeds Steve Laxton, who was named president and chief operating officer as of Jan. 1.

“Jack will be a great addition to the executive leadership team,” stated Chair and CEO Leon Topalian.  “He is an accomplished leader whose strong financial acumen and strategic insight position him well to advance Nucor’s mission of creating sustainable long‑term value for our shareholders, customers, teammates and the communities we serve.”
