Commerce tweaks CVDs on Korean CR
Written by Laura Miller
The US Department of Commerce is conducting an administrative review of the countervailing duty (CVD) order on cold-rolled steel flat products from Korea.
In the preliminary results, Commerce found subsidy rates for Hyundai Steel and POSCO slightly different from their previous rates.
Hyundai’s subsidy rate was preliminarily adjusted lower, to 1.28% vs. 2.21% previously.
Meanwhile, POSCO’s rate was raised from 1.47% to 3.67%.
Commerce will release final CVD rates in the coming months.
CVDs and anti-dumping duties (ADs) matter when importing steel. Korea often offers very competitive import rates. The importer of record is responsible for paying any ADs, CVDs, or tariffs.
