Join SMU for a Community Chat on Wednesday with SA Recycling CEO George Adams
Written by Michael Cowden
Join SMU and AMU for a Community Chat on Wednesday, March 11, at 11 a.m. ET with George Adams, CEO of SA Recycling.
The live webinar is free for all to attend. You can register here. (Editor’s note: A recording of the webinar will only be available to SMU and AMU subscribers.)
We’ll talk about how Adams grew the business from a family yard to one of the largest privately owned recycling companies in the US. We’ll also discuss how he sees the current scrap market shaping up in an era of increasing EAF production in the US and abroad, rising tariffs and other protections domestically and overseas, and an increasing differential between steel and ferrous scrap prices.
Here are a few others we’ll consider:
- How is the export market shaping up?
- What’s the latest not only in ferrous scrap but also in nonferrous scrap?
- Have mill acquisitions of scrap companies tilted the balance of power too far in favor of steel producers?
- What is the future of the scrap industry if raw material prices can’t rise in tandem with those for steel products?
- Is the “price to be determined” mechanism still a good model? Translation: Let’s say scrap prices settle on March 10. Companies will have already shipped one-third of their volumes before even knowing what the price for that material was.
We’ll take your questions too! So be sure to pack some good ones for the Q&A.
Again, we’re excited to have Adams, one of the most influential executives in the domestic scrap industry, join us for the first time for a Community Chat. So don’t forget to register to attend and mark your calendar for Wednesday, March 11, at 11 a.m. ET.
