Global Steel Climate Council certifies Italian steel firm

    Written by Ethan Bernard

The Global Steel Climate Council (GSCC) has certified an Italian steel company.

The nonprofit climate standards organization announced on Wednesday the certification of Duferco Trave e Profilati SpA’s Corporate Average Steel Emissions Intensity (CASEI) and Science-Based Emissions Target (SBET).

The SBET is to reduce emissions for the company’s hot-rolled steel production by 2030 and 2050.

Last month, SMU reported on the certification of Japan’s Yamato Kogyo Co. Ltd. And we have previously reported on the certification of certain Steel Dynamics Inc. products, among others.

Italy’s Duferco Travi e Profilati is a European producer of structural steel long products, including beams, special quality steel, special profiles, and other long products serving customers across Italy, Europe, and North Africa.

GSCC’s Steel Climate Standard is described as “a globally applicable, technology-neutral framework based on science-based targets and transparent reporting.”
