Cleveland-Cliffs and Palantir formalize AI partnership

    Written by Kristen DiLandro

Cleveland-Cliffs plans to deploy Palantir’s advanced AI technologies across its commercial and operations internal processes.

The Cleveland-headquartered steel producer said leveraging Palantir’s enterprise AI platform reflects its ongoing commitment to manufacturing modernization. Implementing the technology into its production planning, order entry, and operational workflows will result in better data integration, risk mitigation planning, real time activity coordination, Cliffs said.

Lourenco Goncalves, Cliffs’ Chairman, President, and CEO expects the tech to deliver exemplary solutions for the complex issues faced by steel producers.

“After completing our pilot work with Palantir, it became clear they were the platform of choice to take our business into the future,” said Goncalves

He continued, “What we have seen so far has been nothing short of a gamechanger. Integrated steelmaking is extraordinarily complex and Palantir’s platform allows us to solve problems in ways humans simply cannot. In addition, our cultural and policy alignment with Palantir make this partnership a very natural and durable fit for Cliffs.”

In its most recent earnings call, the company noted its pivot away from manually driven operational procedures in favor of AI assisted models.

Palantir is a Denver-based technology company focused on AI.
