Electra taps Haessig for advisory board

Ralf Haessig has joined the advisory board of Electra, the clean iron technology company said on Tuesday.

Most recently at Germany-based industrial supplier ZF Group, for 12 years Haessig led work on CBAM compliance, carbon costing, and low-carbon materials sourcing.

CBAM is the European Union’s carbon border adjustment mechanism that puts a carbon price on certain imported goods.

Haessig brings over 30 years of global supply chain and procurement leadership across metals, materials, and advanced manufacturing.

“While working with Electra I saw the potential of producing high-purity iron for green steel on a cost competitive level. I am honored to support Electra in becoming an important market plater,” Haessig said in a statement.

Privately held Electra, based in Boulder, Colo., has a process that uses chemistry and electricity to transform iron ore into 99% pure iron.
