Lewis Leibowitz, veteran trade attorney and SMU columnist was the featured speaker on SMU’s recent Community Chat webinar.

Leibowitz always brings interesting ideas to the table – whether you agree with them or not. He represents steel consumers and often provides a counterpoint to domestic steel producers’ perspectives. We’ll discuss points of agreement too. Like efforts to contain burgeoning exports from China (limited but not excluded steel products).

We discussed Section 232 tariffs doubling to 50% and their impact on the market, as well as the latest on reciprocal tariffs and what they mean for metals. We also delved into some of the legal challenges to President Trump’s tariffs.
