I believe US Steel releases earnings after the close of the Stock Exchange on Tuesday and their earnings conference call will be held at 8:30 AM on Wednesday. Due to the issues the company had with two of their mills during the second quarter the expectation is USS will report a loss. I would expect one of the analysts to bring up questions related to the OCTG decision (which is not 100 percent complete yet as we wait for the ITC final ruling) and the potential that the domestic steel mills will file more suits against Chinese cold rolled and possibly coated steels out of China, India, Taiwan and South Korea.
AK Steel will release their earnings prior to the opening of the Stock Exchange on Tuesday and their conference call will be held at 11 AM ET on Tuesday, July 29th.
A special thank you to Cargill who has joined our list of sponsors for this year’s Steel Summit Conference.
I am going to keep my final thoughts short this evening as we gear up for what will most likely be another interesting week in the steel industry.
As always your business is truly appreciated by all of us here at Steel Market Update.

I hope we get to see you in Atlanta!

A recurring theme in conversations with some of you and in the comments submitted in our surveys is concerns about demand and uncertainty around tariffs. Where does SMU’s latest opinion polling on President Trump’s tariffs stand? Let’s take a look at the numbers.
