Nucor HR spot price flat at $950/ton

    Written by David Schollaert

Nucor kept its consumer spot price (CSP) for hot-rolled coil unchanged at $950 per short ton (st).

It’s the first sideways move for the Charlotte, N.C.-based steelmaker after a $75/st climb over nine weeks.

Nucor said in a letter on Monday, Dec. 29, that the CSP for its West Coast joint venture, California Steel Industries (CSI), would also remain the same vs. last week at $1,000/st.

Lead times of 3 to 5 weeks will continue to be offered, the letter said.

SMU’s HRC price averaged $910/st fob mill, east of the Rockies, as of Tuesday, Dec. 16. The price reflects an increase of $15/st w/w.

You can find regular weekly price assessment information each Tuesday evening. SMU is pausing its weekly assessments until Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2026.
