    Nucor raises HR spot price to $1,070/ton

    Nucor increased its consumer spot price (CSP) for hot-rolled (HR) coil to $1,070 per short ton (st), a $5/st increase from last week.

    The Charlotte, N.C.-based steelmaker said in a letter to customers on Monday, May 4, the CSP for its West Coast joint venture, California Steel Industries (CSI), also increased by $5/st week over week (w/w) to $1,120/st.

    Nucor has now raised its CSP by $110/st since Jan. 20.

    Lead times of 3 to 5 weeks will continue to be offered, according to the letter.

    SMU’s HRC spot price averaged $1,070/st fob mill, east of the Rockies, as of Tuesday, April 28, up $10/st vs. the previous week.
