Chinese Iron Ore, Scrap & Flat Rolled Imports/Exports for March 2015

Chinese steel trade data was recently released for the month of March 2015, providing updated data on iron ore imports, steel scrap imports, and flat rolled imports and exports. Chinese imports of iron ore in March were 80,509,000 metric tons, an increase of 18.5 percent from the previous month and an increase of 8.9 percent from March 2014. Total iron ore imports for the first three months of 2015 are at 227,069,000 tons.
March imports of steel scrap were 194,000 tons, up 17.6 percent from February but down 22.4 percent from the same month one year ago. 2015 total levels for steel scrap imports are at 545,000 tons.
Flat rolled imports in March were 1,016,000 tons, a 36.0 percent increase from the previous month but a 2.3 percent decrease over March 2014 figures. Total 2015 YTD imports were adjusted to 2,725,000 tons. Chinese exports of flat rolled steel were 3,846,000 tons for March, up 16.5 percent from February and up 58.9 percent from March 2014.
