Canadian Distributor Flat Rolled Inventories at 3.4 Months Supply

Canadian shipments for all steel products in the month of November were 399,000 net tons, a decrease of 5.5 percent from the month before and decrease of 11.3 percent from November 2014. Inventories at the end of the month stood at 1,286,400 tons, down 5.1 percent from last month and down 19.1 percent from the same month one year ago. The daily average receipt rate for November was 16,505 tons per day (20 day month), up from 15,033 tons per day the month before (21 day month). Total November receipts were 14,400 tons higher than the October figure. According to the MSCI, total steel product inventories stood at 3.2 months at the end of November, unchanged from October.
Flat Rolled
Canadian shipments of flat rolled products for the month of November were 204,500 tons, a decrease of 4.2 percent from the month before and a decrease of 10.4 percent from the same month one year ago. Inventories at the end of the month were 689,300 tons, down 6.6 percent from last month and down 22.6 percent from the same month one year ago. The daily receipt rate for November was 7,780 tons per day, up from 5,624 tons per day the month before. Total tonnage received was 155,600 tons, up from 118,100 tons the month before. Flat rolled inventories stood at 3.4 months in November, down from 3.5 months of supply in October.
Plate
Canadian shipments for plate products in the month of November were 62,500 tons, a decrease of 15.2 percent from the month before and a decrease of 24.6 percent from November 2014. Inventories at the end of the month were 196,800 tons, a decrease of 2.6 percent from last month and a decrease of 30.9 percent from the same month one year ago. The daily average receipt rate for November was 2,865 tons per day, up from 2,790 tons per day the month before. Plate inventories ended the month at 3.1 months, up from 2.7 months in October.
Pipe and Tube
Canadian shipments for pipe and tube products in the month of November were 47,600 tons, an increase of 0.4 percent from the month before but a decrease of 4.1 percent from the same month last year. Inventories at the end of the month were 132,800 tons, down 1.4 percent from last month and down 4.9 percent from the same month one year ago. The daily average receipt rate for November was 2,285 tons per day, down from 2,457 tons per day the month before. Total months on hand for pipe and tube inventories stood at 2.8 months, unchanged from October.
