November Steel Exports at 11 Month Low

November steel exports totaled 729,391 net tons (661,693 metric tons), down 4.8 percent over October but up 2.4 percent from November 2015. This is the lowest export level seen since December 2015 when 658,362 tons were exported. Total November figures are below the thee month moving average (average of September, October, and November 2016 figures) and below the twelve month moving average (average of September 2015 through November 2016 data). Here is a breakdown of flat rolled and plate exports:
Cut plate exports increased 21.0 percent from October to November to 89,739 tons, up 3.8 percent compared to levels one year ago.
Exports of coiled plate were 36,660 tons in November, up 23.2 percent month over month and up 50.6 percent year over year.
Hot rolled steel exports increased 3.7 percent month over month to 70,667 tons and were up 20.1 percent from November 2015 levels.
Exports of cold rolled products were 52,537 tons in November, down 0.2 percent from October and down 5.7 percent over the same month last year.
Galvanized exports fell 11.1 percent month over month to 98,992 tons. Compared to one year ago, November levels were down 0.3 percent.
Exports of all other metallic coated products came in at 17,082 tons, a 4.7 percent decrease from last month but a 13.6 percent increase compared to one year ago.
