SSAB Raises Plate/HRC by $40
Written by John Packard
November 6, 2017
On Monday, SSAB sent a letter to customers advising of the company’s intention to raise spot transaction prices by a minimum of $40 per ton ($2.00/cwt) effective immediately.
The increase covers all “…As-Rolled Mill Plate, Cut-to-Length Plate >72”, Hot Rolled Coils >72”, as well as Normalized and Quenched & Tempered Plate.”
SSAB also advised that all published extras would be applied.
Plate prices have been much weaker than flat rolled, and SMU expects other plate mills will follow SSAB in an effort to halt the slide in pricing.
