Nucor Announces New Plate Pricing
Written by Tim Triplett
December 2, 2020
Nucor’s Plate Group announced new, higher pricing on all its plate products on Monday. The mill no longer offers a delivered price for plate.
“To continue providing an increased level of clarity and transparency in our plate product pricing, the Nucor Plate Group is now publishing our pricing on an ex-works (EXW) basis,” stated Nucor’s letter to customers. “Applicable freight and fuel surcharges will be added to the published EXW price. Nucor will publish an updated freight matrix in mid-December that will be valid for 1Q2021.”
Effective with new orders for January 2021 acceptance, Nucor’s EXW plate pricing is as follows (note that this price is inclusive of an increase):
• As-rolled discrete/CTL grade A36 Base 3/8”-2”, $36/cwt, EXW. Applicable to stock sizes only in widths of 72”, 84”, 96” or 120”.
• Quenched & tempered Grade A514 Grade B Base 3/8”- 1-1/4”, $46.50/cwt, EXW. Applicable to stock sizes only to include widths of 96” and lengths of 240”/288”.
• Normalized Grade A516-70 Base 3/8”-2”, $40.50/cwt, EXW. Applicable to stock sizes only to include widths of 96”/120” and lengths of 240”/480”.
All published adders/extras will be applied.
The market is waiting and watching to see if other mills follow Nucor’s lead.
