Nucor Corp. aims to keep prices for some plate products flat and to decrease prices on certain cut-to-length items by $50-150 per ton ($2.50-7.50 per cwt).
The Charlotte, N.C.-based steelmaker announced the move with the opening of its October order book for plate.
“We reserve the right to review and re-quote any offers that are not confirmed with either a Nucor sales acknowledgement or written acceptance by both parties,” the company said in a letter to customers on Friday, Sept. 2.
Prices for discrete, quench-and-temper, and normalized plate are unchanged from when the company last adjusted them on July 28, Nucor said.
But prices for three cut-to-length sizes are going down. Prices for 84-inch-wide cut-to-length plate will be down $50 per ton. Prices for cut-to-length product 72 inches wide and 60 inches wide will be down $150 per ton, the company said.
Nucor also makes 96-inch-wide and 120-inch-wide cut-to-length plate. Prices for those sizes are unchanged.
