Friedman Starts Shipping Material from Sinton Facility

At the end of October, Friedman Industries began shipping material from its new coil processing facility on the campus of Steel Dynamics Inc.’s newest sheet mill in Sinton, Texas.

The Longview, Texas-based processor’s new 70,000-square-foot facility includes a new stretcher leveler cut-to-length line that’s able to process coils up to one-inch thick and in widths up to 96-inches wide with yields exceeding 100,000 psi.

“The equipment commissioning process has gone smoothly so far and the customer response has been very positive,” Friedman said in a news release.

The facility is currently operating a single shift but the hiring and training of new employees is ongoing as the company hopes to run a second shift as production increases.

Friedman has previously stated that it anticipates shipments from the Sinton facility to reach 110,000 tons to 140,000 tons in its fiscal 2024 year which ends in March 2024.

In addition to the Sinton facility, Friedman has locations in Hickman, Ark., Decatur, Ala., East Chicago, Ind., Granite City, Ill., and Lone Star, Texas.
