Steel Market Update will be taking time off in observance of Good Friday and Easter.
Our offices will be closed on Friday, April 18, and we will not publish our Executive issue on Sunday, April 20.
Our weekly pricing service will not be impacted.
We will resume our regular publication schedule on Monday, April 21, and our pricing service on Tuesday, April 22.
We wish the entire SMU community a restful holiday weekend.

Steel market chatter this week
On Monday and Tuesday of this week, SMU polled steel buyers on an array of topics, ranging from market prices, demand, and inventories to imports and evolving market events.

Final Thoughts
Sure, demand isn’t as good the market had hoped it would be earlier this year. But assuming it doesn’t fall of a cliff, buyers will have to restock at some point. And that might give domestic mills enough leverage to raise prices again.
