Nucor keeps HRC price unchanged
Written by David Schollaert
April 21, 2025
Nucor has kept its weekly hot-rolled (HR) coil price flat this week after a marginal cut the previous week.
As of Monday, April 21, the CSP is $930 per short ton (st), unchanged week over week (w/w) and down just $5/st over the past month.
That price is good across Nucor mills, except for its joint-venture subsidiary California Steel Industries (CSI), whose HR price also remained flat w/w at $990/st.
The letter to customers stated that lead times of three to five weeks will continue to be offered, but they should contact a Nucor sales representative to confirm.
SMU’s April 15 market check had HR coil spot prices ranging from $840-950/st, averaging $895/st. Our HR index was down $10/st from the prior week and has declined $55 since peaking at $950/st in mid-March. We will update our indices tomorrow evening.
SMU members can access our steel mill price announcement calendar to view historical flat-rolled and plate price announcements.
