Scrap Management Industries (SMI) has purchased two recycling facilities in Kansas.
The Kansas City-based metal recycler has acquired 12th & Haskell Recycle Center in Lawrence, Kan., and East Wilson Recycle in Ottawa, Kan. Financial terms of the deal were not released.
The facilities will operate under the new name Scrap Management Industries – Lawrence and Scrap Management Industries – Ottawa.
The buys mark SMI’s eighth and ninth locations overall, with other facilities located in Missouri, Kansas, and Oklahoma.
SMI said the new Kansas locations will continue to offer metal recycling services for both ferrous and nonferrous materials.
“By adding the Lawrence and Ottawa locations, we are well-positioned to better serve our industrial partners, small businesses, and individual recyclers while expanding our presence and impact in the region,” Jerrit Burgess, SMI president and CEO, said in a statement on June 10.
