Nucor drops HR spot price to $865/ton

Nucor has lowered its hot-rolled (HR) spot price by another $10 per short ton (st) this week.
The Charlotte, N.C.-based steelmaker told customers on Monday that it was setting its HR consumer spot price (CSP) at $865/st, down from $875/st a week earlier.
HR from California Steel Industries (CSI), the company’s West Coast subsidiary, is also down $10 to $925/st week over week.
On July 21, Nucor’s CSP stood at $900/st, while its CSI price was $960/st.
Nucor’s offered lead times remain between three and five weeks.
SMU’s HR price stood at an average of $820/st as of Tuesday, Aug. 12, down $10 from the previous week and off $35 from a month earlier. We will update our prices on Tuesday evening.
