USS increases Galvalume coating extras
Written by Brett Linton

U.S. Steel has revised its Galvalume coating extras higher effective Nov. 2, 2025. The steelmaker released new extras to customers on Friday, Sept. 12.
SMU’s comparison of old and new extras in Table 1 (click to expand) shows increases of 30-49% across all products, with an average rise of 36%.

SMU maintains copies of mill price books here on our website. At the time of this article, the most recent price book posted on the U.S. Steel website is effective Oct. 1, 2023, and does not yet reflect the new extras.
Galvalume products are coated with aluminum and zinc; rising aluminum prices are likely the driver for these increased coating extras. In our recent Raw Material Price update to Premium members, we noted that the aluminum Midwest Premium has surged in recent months, pushing the all-in Midwest aluminum price to a three-year high.
