Wheeling-Nippon Steel raises Galvalume coating extras

    Written by Brett Linton

Wheeling-Nippon Steel has announced higher coating extras for Galvalume products, effective Jan. 10, 2026. The steelmaker released updated extras to customers on Oct. 15, marking the second adjustment in just six weeks following their early September revision.

SMU’s comparison of old and new extras in Table 1 (click to expand) shows increases of 13-30% across all thicknesses, with an average increase of 13%.

SMU maintains current copies of mill price books, available for reference on our website.

Galvalume products are coated with a blend of aluminum and zinc. Rising aluminum prices are the likely driver behind these increased coating extras. As noted in our recent Raw Material Price update to Premium members, the aluminum Midwest Premium has surged in recent months to record highs.
