Alton Steel assets set for auction in April

Special bar quality (SBQ) steel producer Alton Steel has announced an asset auction that will be held in April.

The auction comes after the privately held, Alton, Ill.-based company decided in late January to close all operations.

More than 3,000 assets will be available. They include a Mannesmann Demag 220-ton electric-arc furnace system, an EBT electric-arc furnace, and a Moeller Neumann continuous roughing rolling mill/bar mill.

An inspection/preview will be held on Monday, April 6, Tuesday, April 7, and Wednesday, April 8.

The three-day auction will be held on Wednesday, April 8, Thursday, April 9, and Friday, April 10.
