Tenaris closes on Beaver Falls scrapyard deal
Written by Ethan Bernard
Tenaris has closed on its buy of a Beaver Falls scrap processing yard in Pennsylvania.
The deal was first announced in November, and the Luxembourg-based global pipe maker said operations remain unchanged.
The Beaver Falls, Pa., scrap processing yard was part of California-based SA Recycling. The yard has now transitioned to Tenaris’ subsidiary, Steel Recycling Services.
“Completing this acquisition marks an important step in strengthening our US domestic manufacturing capabilities,” Guillermo Moreno, president of Tenaris, said in a statement on Monday.
He noted the deal allows Tenaris to secure direct access to high-quality scrap. This will boost efficiency, optimize steel quality, and deliver on Tenaris’ “commitment to producing high-performance steel solutions for our energy customers.”
The yard is adjacent to Tenaris’ Koppel manufacturing facility, which makes liquid steel using an electric-arc furnace.
Further terms of the deal were not revealed.
