Nucor Plate Group aims to raise prices

Nucor Plate Group notified customers it is increasing prices on all as rolled products by $40 per short ton (st) and $60/st on all heat-treat products.

The Charlotte, NC-based steel producer, sent the notice on March 12 and let customers know it was taking orders for May. Nucor said it reserves the right to requote any unacknowledged quote.
Plate sources told SMU they expected to see the company hike its plate prices. SSAB and Oregon Steel Mills each issued $60/st increase notifications last week.
SMU’s mill price announcement calendar reflects all the increases noted above.
SMU’s plate price assessment stands at $1,145/st on average as of Tuesday. Price assessments and updates occur each Tuesday afternoon.
