AISI: Raw steel production strengthens further

Domestic mill production ticked up to a new multi-year high last week, the fifth consecutive weekly gain, according to recently published American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) figures.
Total US raw steel production was estimated at 1,848,000 short tons (st) in the week ending April 18 (Figure 1). This is up 5,000 st, or 0.3%, from the previous week and is now at the highest level recorded since November 2021. Production has strengthened 9% since the beginning of this year.
