    AISI: Domestic steel shipments rose in March

    US steel shipments increased in March from February as well as year over year, the American Iron and Steel Institute said Monday.

    Domestic mills shipped 8,204,611 short tons (st) in March. That’s up 10.9% from 7,395,507 st in February and a 6.2% bump from 7,725,314 st in March 2025.

    Year-to-date shipments totaled 23,183,944 st through March. That’s up 4.4% vs. shipments of 22,197,305 st in the first three months of 2025.

    Comparing YTD shipments year in 2026 to the first three months of 2025 shows the following: corrosion-resistant sheet and strip, up 13%; hot-rolled sheet and strip, up 4%; and cold-rolled sheet and strip, down 6%.
