UAW reaches tentative labor agreement with American Axle
Written by Laura Miller
The United Autoworkers (UAW) announced it has reached a tentative labor agreement with American Axle/Dauch Corp.
The provisional pact comes 10 days after UAW Local 2093 members went on strike on June 1.
“Tonight, after 10 days on strike, I am proud to announce that UAW Local 2093 has reached a tentative agreement at American Axle,” UAW President Shawn Fain said in a statement. “And tonight, after 18 years of sacrifice, these workers are finally winning back a big chunk of what was taken from them.”
“Among other historic gains in a record contract at the Tier 1 parts supplier to GM” is a more than 36% increase to the top wage rate over four years, the union said.
Local 2093’s nearly 1,000 members will vote in the coming days on whether to ratify the agreement. The workers will return to work upon ratification.
The American Axle/Dauch Corp. facility in Three Rivers, Mich., manufactures the automobile components and axles used in General Motors’ popular pick-up trucks.
