Orion Steel taps Ptacek as president

Orion Steel has appointed Todd Ptacek as its new president.

Ptacek joined Orion Steel in 2025, serving as the company’s EVP and chief transformation officer.

“Todd has earned the trust and respect of our team through his collaborative leadership, integrity, and commitment to our values,” Orion CEO Doug Matthews said in a LinkedIn post on Friday.

“Together, Todd and I will continue working closely to ensure Orion Steel builds on its strong foundation while positioning the company for sustained success,” he added.

Chicago-based Orion Steel is the parent company of Rocky Mountain Steel Mills.
