Great Lakes ore shipments flat in July

The Great Lakes iron ore trade was steady in July, reports the Lake Carriers Association (LCA).
US-flag shipments of ore on the Great Lakes reached 5.1 million short tons (st) in July, up less than 1% from the same month last year but down 7.2% from the month’s five-year average.
Year-to-date, iron ore shipments totaled 22.5 million st, up 3.3% compared to last year. However, YTD shipments are 5.2% below their five-year average, LCA said.
