Written by Laura Miller
Domestic mill shipments slipped from June to July, according to the latest data from the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI).
AISI reported that US mills shipped 8,219,540 short tons (st) of steel in July. That was a 3.7% decrease from the 8,536,500 st shipped in June.
However, compared with last July’s 7,797,929 st, this July’s shipments were 5.4% higher.
Year-to-date shipments total 55,746,641 st. That’s up 5.3% from the first seven months of 2025.
AISI noted the following year-over-year changes in YTD shipments: corrosion-resistant sheet and strip up 13%, hot-rolled sheet up 8%, and cold-rolled sheet and strip up 0.1%.
