Chinese Export 4 Million Metric Tons of Flat Rolled in September

Chinese steel trade data was recently released for the month of September 2014, providing updated data on iron ore imports, steel scrap imports, and flat rolled imports and exports. Chinese imports of iron ore in September were 84,695,000 metric tons, an increase of 13.1 percent from the previous month and an increase of 13.6 percent from September 2013. Total iron ore imports for 2014 were adjusted to 699,073,000 tons.
September imports of steel scrap were 204,000 tons, down 2.9 percent from August and down 29.7 percent from the same month one year ago. 2014 total levels for steel scrap imports were adjusted to 1,962,000 tons.
Flat rolled imports in August were 1,144,000 tons, a 15.6 percent increase from the previous month and a 9.0 percent increase over September 2013 figures. Total 2014 imports were adjusted to 9,195,000 tons. Chinese exports of flat rolled steel were 3,996,000 tons for September, up 4.6 percent from August and up 70.8 percent from September 2013.
