Final Thoughts

We are hearing from a number of service centers that there have been a couple of mills out there who are not interested in pushing prices again this year. The thought process is split within the steel community to see if the next increase (which the vast majority of the industry believes is coming) will be in early January 2017. The thought is the mills may want to wait and get the support of higher scrap prices and (hopefully) stronger production and order books.
We have added a large number of new members over the past few days and I want to take a moment to welcome them to Steel Market Update. I encourage all new readers to spend some time on our website which contains a wide variety of information from archived newsletters to our Truth About Selling Steel & Steel Buyers Basics series as well as our price indices on flat rolled and scrap. There is much more in the website and we are always trying to add new content germane to the steel industry.
If any our new members (or any member for that matter) needs some assistance regarding our website, please contact Brett@SteelMarketUpdate.com (706-216-5440) and he can help you.
If you have any comments or suggestions regarding our newsletter and/or website, please let us know. You can send suggestions/questions/comments to: info@SteelMarketUpdate.com. The “info” email address goes to multiple people in our offices including myself.
As always your business is truly appreciated by all of us here at Steel Market Update.
