Bull Moose Tube Co. (BMT) is now offering jumbo hollow structural sections (HSS) in the US market.
Chesterfield, Mo.-based BMT is partnering with Mitsui & Co. (USA), MM&KENZAI Corp., and Nippon Steel Metal Products (NSMP) to exclusively offer 16” to 22” square HSS with wall thicknesses up to 0.875” and rectangles as large as 24” x 12” x 0.750” wall to ASTM A500 and CSA G40 specifications.
Prior to the partnership, BMT offered 14” square and rectangular equivalents, up to 0.750” wall.
“We are excited for this partnership as it will further expand our HSS steel product offering to the US market and will increase the availability of these larger sections to the benefit of architects, structural engineers, structural fabricators, contractors, and our distribution customers,” BMT’s CCO Andy Annakin said in a statement.
Jumbo HSS is commonly used in large, long-span warehouses and distribution centers, airports, stadiums, and parking garages.
BMT said NSMP’s jumbo HSS has been used in large-scale construction projects across the US.
BMT, part of the privately held UK-based Caparo Group, operates seven plants in the US and one in Ontario, Canada, producing welded HSS, mechanical tubing, and sprinkler pipe.
Mitsui & Co. (USA) and MM&KENZAI Corp. are subsidiaries of Tokyo-based trading and investment firm Mitsui & Co. Ltd.
NSMP, formerly known as Nippon Steel & Sumikin Metal Products Co., is a part of Japan’s Nippon Steel Corp.
