Longs producer and metal recycler CMC plans to open a new rebar fabrication plant in Akron, Ohio.
The company will renovate an existing, vacant facility, according to a press release from Team NEO, a private, nonprofit economic development organization in Northeast Ohio.
“The county is pleased to be providing critical on-the-job training grant funding to CMC to help the company fill new, good-paying jobs available to our residents,” commented Summit County Executive Ilene Shapiro.
Team NEO said CMC will hire up to 50 new employees over the course of five years as it grows its operations.
According to its website, CMC Rebar currently has two facilities in Ohio: One in Akron and another in Hamilton.
Irving, Texas-based CMC did not respond to a request for additional information.
