Evraz North America (NA) has followed Nucor and SSAB with a plate price increase of its own: up $160 per short ton (st).
The increase was effective immediately for all new orders of carbon, high-strength low-alloy, and normalized and quenched-and-tempered plate products, as well as for hot-rolled coil, the steelmaker said in a letter to customers on Feb. 25.
Chicago-based Evraz NA, a subsidiary of London-based Evraz plc, also said it reserved the right to re-quote any offers that had not been confirmed.
In under a month, Evraz NA, SSAB Americas, and Nucor have all increased plate prices by $240-280/st, issuing multiple pricing letters since Jan. 27.
Plate prices stand at $1,000/st on average, according to our Feb. 18 check of the market. Tags are up by $100/st in less than a month – you can track those changes on SMU’s interactive price tool.
SMU will next update its plate prices tonight, Feb. 25.
