Global steel production edges lower in February

Global raw steel production dipped from January to February, according to the latest figures released by the World Steel Association (worldsteel). February’s output tied with last December for the fourth-lowest monthly production rate recorded over the past two years.

Steel mills worldwide produced 144.7 million metric tons (mt) of raw steel in February. This represents an 8% decline from the previous month and is 3% lower than the same month last year (149.8 million mt).
