The Steel Summit 2025 launch sequence has been initiated. We are preparing to explore the frontiers of the flat-rolled universe and go deep into uncharted steel territory.
Many of you have already registered. Attendees stand at 1,400+, and rising. You have downloaded the Summit app (available here). You have perused the exciting agenda and have already mapped out plans for the can’t-miss events of the conference (Spoiler alert: all of them). Maybe you’ve even started networking just to stay ahead of the game.
As you can see, if you haven’t registered, you don’t want to be left out of the fun. (You can still register here.)
Speaking of fun… Ahead of the conference, we just wanted to do a little crossword. We’ll feature a few companies involved with Summit, a couple of facts about the SMU universe, and – of course – a little about steel. Consider it a fun teaser ahead of the event.
For a full list of all the wonderful speakers, sponsors, and attendees, click here. And, as always, thanks for all your support!

The question of the new world order was on many minds last week when I spoke on another SMU Community Chat. The short answer is that nobody knows in detail what the effects of all the economic and geopolitical developments will be.

From integrated mills to EAFs, Dan Brown’s career has spanned changes in the steel industry
Brown's career began at the historic integrated U.S. Steel mills near Pittsburgh. He now helps lead the Big River Steel EAFs in Arkansas.

SMU Community Chat: Tariffs disrupt US ‘business as usual’
Reporting and enforcing steel tariffs are two top–of-mind concerns for US manufacturers, the US Customs and Border Protection agency, importers, and others across the supply chain.
