National service center chain Olympic Steel has made an internal promotion to fill the newly created role of director of manufactured metal products.
Joseph L. Casey is stepping into the position to lead Olympic subsidiaries McCullough Industries and MetalWorks, the Cleveland-based company said Wednesday.
“We are confident he will continue to elevate our Manufactured Metal Products business group and accelerate its growth,” said Zachary Siegal, president of Olympic’s Manufactured Metal Products since January 2024.
Casey first joined Olympic in 2012 to help start the Integrity Stainless facility in Streetsboro, Ohio, and then moved through a variety of roles within the company.
Since Olympic acquired McCullough Industries in 2019, Casey has served as general manager of its facility in Kenton, Ohio.
McCullough Industries manufactures material handling and storage equipment, mainly self-dumping hoppers for industrial applications.
Olympic said Casey’s leadership helped to grow the subsidiary significantly, with several new material handling product lines introduced during his tenure.
This year, McCullough Industries celebrates 60 years in operation.
MetalWorks
Using primarily pre-painted galvanized steel, Galvalume, and aluminum, MetalWorks manufactures components for service station canopies, deck clips, long gutters, trim, boat docks, and solar canopy and ground racking equipment.
Olympic acquired the business and its two facilities in Oakwood, Ga., in November last year for an undisclosed sum.
MetalWorks President Ben Houston, who founded the company in 2003, plans to retire in December, Olympic said.
Nathan Anderson, general manager of MetalWorks, will report to Casey as part of the planned transition.
