NLMK USA raising HR, CR $50/ton, coated at $150 above HR base

    Written by Ethan Bernard

NLMK USA is aiming to increase base prices on all products, effective immediately.

The company said all hot-rolled and cold-rolled quotes are up $50 per short ton (st).

Additionally, all quotes and orders for coated products will have a base price at a minimum of $150/st above hot-rolled base prices.

NLMK USA specified that orders received and not specified are still subject to the increases. The lead time for all products is in January.

Driving factors included increased demand, strong order placement, and extended lead times.

The move follows a price hike announced by the company late last month. At the time, NLMK USA said it was planning to raise hot-rolled and cold-rolled coil by at least $50/st and coated products by at least $100/st.

Since then, other steelmakers have followed suit, announcing price increases on a host of products. You can view SMU’s Steel Mill Price Announcement Calendar to follow announced pricing changes.

SMU’s hot rolled price stood at an average of $830/st as of Tuesday, Nov. 11, up $5 from the previous week. It marks the highest level in over three months.

NLMK USA operates an EAF steel mill in Portage, Ind., a hot-strip mill and a cold-reduction mill in Farrell, Pa., and a galvanizing facility in Sharon, Pa.
