Oregon Steel Mills increases plate prices by $40/ton

    Written by David Schollaert

Oregon Steel Mills has joined other producers, announcing a price increase of at least $40 per short ton (st) for steel plate.

The Portland, Ore.-based company told customers on Monday that the minimum increase of $40/st was effective immediately with all new orders.

It applies to all carbon, HSLA, hot-rolled coil, normalized, and quenched and tempered products, the company said.

The move comes after Nucor and SSAB Americas both said last week they were raising plate prices by $30/st and $40/st, respectively.

Oregon Steel Mills was previously a part of Evraz North America, known as Evraz Oregon. It is now part of Orion Steel Companies, having been acquired by private equity firm Atlas Holdings in July.
