Nucor raises galvanized base price to $1,050/ton
Written by Brett Linton
Nucor has announced increased pricing on galvanized steel products as of Wednesday, Dec. 10.
The steelmaker increased its minimum base price for galvanized products to $1,050 per short ton (st). The base price for Nucor subsidiary California Steel Industries (CSI) was raised to $1,100/st.
Nucor specified it reserves the right to review and re-quote any offers not yet confirmed.
In a letter sent to customers, the Charlotte, N.C.-based steelmaker cited modest inventories and resilient demand expected to strengthen with continued reshoring in 2026.
“Based on these factors combined with an increase in production costs and a decrease in unfairly and illegally traded imports into the marketplace, effectively immediately, The Nucor Sheet Mill Group is increasing its minimum base price for galvanized steel products,” the company said in its letter.
SMU’s Dec. 9 market check found galvanized spot prices ranging from $970-1,100/st, averaging $1,035/st. Our index rose $5/st week over week and has risen $90/st in the past four weeks.
